Dear Great Hearts Board and Executive Leadership,

I am writing to voice my opposition to the Great Hearts Biological Sex and Gender Policy.

The Board of Directors has adopted a student policy that is not aligned with current medical, mental health, and educational research. The Executive Team is now charged with implementing and enforcing a Board policy that runs contrary to the recommended best practices of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Psychological Association, the National Education Association, the US Department of Education, the Arizona School Boards Association, the Arizona School Counselors Association, among a long list of other respected, professional organizations charged to protect the health, safety and welfare of our children.

The policy adopted by the Great Hearts Board of Directors can only erode the self-esteem and self-confidence of their transgender students. This policy has no place at Great Hearts.

The policy the Great Hearts Board of Directors passed in June 2016 robs your transgender students of the opportunity to be successful. It robs them of the benefits of a Great Hearts education. It is impossible for your transgender students to be expected to thrive, to be leaders of the future, within the learning environment that this policy creates.

Please consider replacing the current Biological Sex and Gender Policy. It would behoove Great Hearts to lead the way, to shine forward and demonstrate their faith in the virtues of compassion, kindness, courage, humility, and understanding.

Sincerely,

YOURNAMEHERE
A Concerned Great Hearts Parent
